(i) IPS: Indian Police Service
The Indian Police Service is one of the three All India Services of the Government of India, known simply as the Police Services. It is a top rated and reputed service. The Indian Police Service was formed in 1948, a year after India's independence. It has replaced the Indian (Imperial) Police. IPS officers are recruited through the examination of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). This exam is conducted every year and the selected candidates choose their preferences from among the top three services IAS, IFS and IPS. Four attempts to clear this test for general category candidates, 7 attempts for OBC candidates and no restriction for SC/ST candidates. The IPS service is divided into various departments such as Crime Branch, Home Guard, Traffic Bureau and Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

To apply for this job, the candidate must be a graduate from a recognized university. Every year an exam is scheduled by the Union Public Service Commission. Due to its highly competitive nature, it is considered to be the toughest exam in India.
Rules and Functions of an IPS Officer
To maintain public peace and order, crime prevention, investigation, detection, VIP security, counter terrorism, drug trafficking, economic offences, disaster management etc.
Lead and command Indian intelligence agency like RAW (Research and Analysis Wing), IB (Intelligence Bureau), CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation), CID (Criminal Investigation Department) etc.
Lead and command the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) which includes CPOs (Central Police Organisations), and Central Paramilitary Forces (CPFs) such as BSF (Border Security Force), CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force), NSG (National Security Guard) Huh. , CISF (Central Industrial Security Force) etc.

(ii) IPS: In-plane switching
In-plane switching is used in LCD. It is a type of screen technology that provides similar color reproduction and greater viewing angles than traditional LCDs. It was developed by Hitachi in 1996 to overcome the limitations of twisted nematic (TN) displays such as strong viewing angle dependence and low quality color reproduction.
Advantages of IPS
It displays consistent, accurate colors from all viewing angles.
IPS processes high speed signals without data loss.
It provides stable response time with clear images.
Disadvantages of IPS
It uses more power (about 15% more) than a traditional LCD screen.
IPS displays are more expensive than traditional LCDs.
IPS displays have longer response times than normal LCDs.
(iii) IPS: Intrusion Prevention System
An intrusion prevention system is a network security or threat prevention tool used to monitor network and system activities for malicious activity. It is also called Intrusion Detection and Prevention System (IDPS). Once an attacker is within reach, the IPS can take immediate action. It can drop a packet it thinks is malicious and block all further traffic from that port or IP address.
